CORAL GABLES ? Al Golden is making the rounds at ESPN on Tuesday starting with a 10:20 a.m. SportsCenter interview.

Sitting down with Sam Ponder ? wife of former FSU quarterback Christian Ponder?? the NCAA was topic No. 1. Golden hit on some of the same points he makes in most interviews on the subject.

When it came to reform, Golden tossed out an idea for a new model.

"The biggest suggestion from me, for the 125 Division I football programs, let's all invest in NCAA infractions and compliance and let's have an officer on every campus," Golden said. "You'll find then that there's a lot of coaches that want to coach life skills, want to teach leadership, want to teach kids what they need to be successful in every facet of their life, that want education, that are teaching it the right way.

"It doesn't mean we're less competitive and that's a part of the fabric of the United States of America, to be competitive. We're trying to teach life skills and learning in every endeavor. And I think they would see our mission and our value and our goals are commiserate with theirs."

When it comes to the case involving former booster Nevin Shapiro charges, Golden told ESPN he didn?t expect a resolution this week. The Committee on Infractions typically takes 6-to-8 weeks to release a decision. That window opened last Friday.

?I think we?ve operated with class and integrity and transparency throughout the whole investigation,? Golden said. ?? We have not taken any shots at the process at all. We?ve trusted and we?ve been partners with it in terms of a joint inquiry.?

The cooperative nature of the investigation, however, ended in January. UM president Donna Shalala took the first of a few public jabs at the NCAA after it admitted flaws in the process tainted evidence.

Golden also took a few friendly shots at Ponder before leaving the 4-minute, 15-second interview.

With a smile on his face, Golden replied to a question about Stephen Morris by first saying "I think you know something about quarterbacks." At the end, he joked about her inadvertently doing a tomahawk chop.

So, back to the topic. Do you agree with Golden's suggestion to have an NCAA cop on every campus? Leave a comment below and start the discussion.
