OISC Visits The Retail Business Technology Expo

Europes fastest growing retail expo ? The Retail Business Technology Expo at Earls Court, London ? was hailed as a huge success this year, being host to thousands of visitors from the UK and Europe over the two day events.Major retailers attend the event, coming from all across Europe. Representatives are attracted by the large quantity and high quality of educational programmes on offer, such as presentations by Paul Coby, IT Director of John Lewis and Mark Fabes, IT Director of McDonalds plus many more.

The Retail Business Technology Expo is a unique event, covering end to end solutions addressing the retailers needs from logistics and suppliers through to the customer. There are workshops, inspirational features and four seminar theatres with over 100 independent presentations and discussions.

We at OISC attended a day of the show to check up on the newest developments and to see what companies had in the pipeline.

One of the companies we caught up with on the day was Nirvana Intelligent Systems Limited (Nisyst). Nisyst specialises in?touchscreen EPoS software, developing their own software and supplying hardware to companies in the UK and abroad.

Nisyst were using the exhibition to push the release of their ?NPoS anywhere? system which was released on the 13th of March this year. The new release integrates the use of a mobile app, allowing the user to check sales, control stock and many other functions from the users iPhone, iPad or Android device.

Dave Chunilal, a Nisyst representative attending the show said ?There was lots of interest and it was brilliant to see so many people talk about our product so enthusiastically.? He continued, ?So many retail businesses are still adamant that they want in-house servers and a solid infrastructure in place that allows better control on their systems.?

This ties in with the general theme of the expo, with many attendees showing their innovations for the future, which is more relevant than ever with the tough economy and the need to be productive, efficient and effective in the market place.

Looking to the future, BT had a large presence this year, showing off their plans for the future. As they have one of the largest Research and Development centres in the world, they can set trends for the future at exhibitions such as this.

BT?s technology solutions spanned every sector of retailing and commerce; planning, sourcing, merchandising, stores, sales analysis, brand loyalty, e-commerce and many other areas.

The show was a huge success all around, with great ideas and products coming from those in attendance, both for use now and exciting ideas for the future. If you or your company missed out this year, I would strongly recommend going to next year?s edition being held on the 12th ? 13th of March 2013.
